The Avodah Framework™

A biblical operating system for meaningful work.

// Overview

The Avodah Framework™ is the operating system inside every Avodah Dynamics venture. It translates the theology of Work Is Worship into a repeatable discipline for founders, leaders, and Kingdom Builders.

The framework is organized around six principles — Calling, Craft, Character, Covenant, Contribution, and Continuity. Together they form a full-stack picture of vocation: why you build, how you build, who you become while building, who you build with, what you build for, and what remains after you.

// Biblical Foundation

The framework draws directly from the creation mandate (Genesis 1:28), the tabernacle craftsmen filled with the Spirit (Exodus 31:1–5), and the wisdom literature's insistence that skill and integrity are inseparable (Proverbs 22:29; Ecclesiastes 9:10).

It is shaped by the pattern of Jesus, who grew 'in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man' (Luke 2:52) — the fourfold formation the framework mirrors.

// Historical Context

Frameworks for Christian work have existed in every era — Benedict's Rule for the monastery, Luther's doctrine of vocation for the household and shop, the Puritan work ethic for the town. The Avodah Framework is a framework for the studio, the start-up, and the digital enterprise.

// Personal Perspective

I built the first version of this framework for myself — to answer a simple question I could not stop asking: what does a genuinely Christian way of building actually look like, in practice, this week?

Every organization I have founded, advised, or invested in has been pressure-tested against these six principles.

// Practical Application

The six principles of the Avodah Framework™:

  1. Step 01
    Calling

    Discern the specific commission God has entrusted to you — not a job description, a assignment.

  2. Step 02
    Craft

    Pursue excellence as a form of obedience. Skill is stewardship.

  3. Step 03
    Character

    Build the inner person faster than you build the outer platform.

  4. Step 04
    Covenant

    Choose people you will build with, and stay.

  5. Step 05
    Contribution

    Design the work to serve someone beyond yourself — customer, city, or Kingdom.

  6. Step 06
    Continuity

    Build for legacy. Ask what remains in ten, fifty, one hundred years.
