# Why I'm still documenting the journey when it hurts
_It’s easy to record the wins, but true leadership is found in the grit of the middle. Today I'm reflecting on the architecture of endurance and the systems that keep us upright._

## Where I am today
I woke up this morning to the sound of rain hitting the roof, a rhythmic reminder that the world keeps turning even when we’re tired. I’ve been sitting here with my coffee, reflecting on the idea of a **founder operating system** and what it actually looks like to live it out when the initial excitement fades. It is one thing to have a vision; it is quite another to have the **creative discipline** to see it through. I was reminded of Hebrews 12:1 today—the call to run with endurance the race set before us. To me, that isn't just a metaphor for a marathon; it’s about the daily architecture of our souls. As I, Karl Perkins, look at the landscape of my own life, I realize that documenting the journey isn't just about showing the highlights; it's about anchoring myself in the truth of the process. I’m an architect of people and systems, not buildings, and today that means building the interior strength to stay the course even when the sky is grey.

## What I'm building — and why
Right now, I’m deep in the middle of refining the **business systems** that power the Avodah ecosystem. I’m currently shipping new modules for [Avodah Dynamics](https://avodahdynamics.com), specifically focused on the concept of *Netzach*—the Hebrew word for endurance and victory. I recently wrote about this in a piece on [what is Netzach](https://content.avodahdynamics.com/2026/08/06/what-is-netzach-the-ancient-hebrew-word-that-reveals-the-kingdom-builders-victory-and-endurance/), exploring how we move past seasonal adrenaline into eternal architecture. I’m also building out my own **AI second brain** to capture the raw **founder notes** that usually get lost in the shuffle of a busy day. Why? Because I believe that **purpose driven work** deserves to be finished. I’m doing this for the leader who feels like they are drowning in data but starving for wisdom. It costs me time and mental energy to be this meticulous, but the cost of building something that collapses under its own weight is much higher. I’m obsessed with **consistent execution** because I know that a **builder mindset** is what separates those who dream from those who actually change their communities.

## What I'm reading and thinking about
I’ve been chewing on a recent [Harvard Business Review](https://hbr.org) article regarding the 'loneliness of leadership' and how it impacts long-term decision making. It aligns with what I’m seeing in Barna’s research on pastoral and leadership burnout. It’s clear that without a robust **leadership philosophy**, we are all just one bad week away from throwing in the towel. This is why I treat my work as an act of *Avodah*—where work and worship are one. I don't want to just build a brand; I want to help others understand **how to finish what you start** by building on a foundation that isn't made of sand. We have to be thinkers who engage with the world's data through the lens of Kingdom conviction.

## For you
I want to speak to the part of you that feels like your labor is going unnoticed. You are not just 'working'; you are **building a legacy**. Every small act of **creative discipline** is a brick in a wall that will eventually provide shade for others. I want you to look at your calendar not as a list of chores, but as a blueprint for **work that matters**. This week, I want you to try one thing: Spend 10 minutes at the end of your day **documenting the journey** by writing down one thing you learned and one thing you are grateful for. Don't perform; just be honest. If you need a framework to help you stay grounded, I invite you to explore the [Hope Challenge](https://hope.avodahdynamics.com). It’s not about a quick fix; it’s about resetting your spiritual architecture so you can lead from a place of overflow rather than exhaustion. You were designed for **consistent execution**, but you were never meant to do it in your own strength.

## Something I'm listening to
I’ve been spending a lot of time with the new curated tracks on [Avodah Sound](https://sound.avodahdynamics.com). Specifically, the "Christian Music for Prayer" playlist has been my sonic anchor. There’s a particular track with a deep, ambient trap bassline that feels like a heartbeat. It helps me maintain focus while I’m navigating complex **business systems**. It’s more than just background noise; it’s a tool for spiritual warfare, keeping my mind focused on the King while I handle the logistics of the Kingdom.

## A thought on work and money
There is a tension we all feel between the 'mission' and the 'margin.' I’ve learned that a true **builder mentality** doesn't ignore the bottom line; it sanctifies it. Money is a tool for the mission, not the mission itself. According to a [Forbes](https://www.forbes.com) report on faith-based entrepreneurship, leaders who align their profit motives with a clear **leadership philosophy** actually see higher long-term retention and impact. When I talk about **purpose driven work**, I’m talking about creating value that lasts. If we get this right, our families benefit, our communities thrive, and we prove that you don't have to sacrifice your soul to build a successful life. We aren't just chasing checks; we are funding the movement.

## Before I go
You carry a weight that others might not see, but it is a weight of glory, not just a weight of burden. You are an architect of the environment around you. You get to decide the atmosphere of your home and your office today.
