## The 66% Reality: Why Educators are Leading the Revolution

I was reading a recent report from the [Brookings Institution](https://www.brookings.edu/articles/ai-is-rapidly-changing-education-and-research-needs-to-keep-up/) that confirmed what I’ve been feeling in my gut: AI isn't coming for the classroom; it’s already the lead tenant. The data shows that two-thirds of teachers are already using AI, yet the institutional structures—the research and the policy—are lagging behind the grit of the front lines. 

As a builder, this hits home. In my own [documentation of the journey](https://kaperkins.com), I realize that we often wait for permission to innovate when the tools are already in our hands. Educators aren't waiting for a white paper; they are moving with a **builder mindset** to solve problems in real-time. But there’s a danger in moving fast without a blueprint. We shouldn't just be including AI to save time; we need to be integrating it to change the way we think.

## Closing the Research Gap with Consistent Execution

The gap between classroom reality and official research is a risk to our **leadership philosophy**. When the feedback loop is too slow, we end up with tools that are powerful but unanchored. I view this as a call for **consistent execution** in how we track what works.

Educational AI shouldn't just be a shortcut for a Friday afternoon lesson plan. ## Developing the AI Second Brain

I often tell those I mentor that to succeed in the kingdom marketplace, you need more than just raw talent; you need a system. I’ve been experimenting with the concept of an **AI second brain**—not as a replacement for human intellect, but as the unseen choreography that supports it. 

For the next generation, this means teaching them to be AI-literate, not just AI-reliant. We are teaching them to be the architects, not just the users. This requires a shift in our **leadership lessons**: we must value the process of inquiry over the convenience of the answer. If they don't learn **how to finish what you start** using these tools as a catalyst rather than a crutch, we’ve failed the mission of **purpose driven work**.
