# A Blueprint for the Heart: How I’m Learning to Build with Purpose
_I'm sitting down today to reflect on how we can anchor our daily work in something deeper than the hustle. It's about building a rhythm that actually honors the Lord._

## Where I am today

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how easy it is to let our work become just a list of things to do. I’ve found myself leaning back into Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." It’s a gentle reminder for me, and maybe for you too, that our labor has a divine intent behind it.

I’m Karl Perkins, and as I look at the projects on my desk, I see so many builders—people just like us—who have incredible talent but feel their structural integrity slipping because they haven’t settled on a real **leadership philosophy**. To me, **work that matters** isn't something we stumble into; it’s the result of a thoughtful **founder operating system** where we refuse to separate our spiritual life from our professional life. If our daily framework isn’t anchored in Kingdom principles, we’re just building on shifting sands. Let’s try to reset our spiritual architecture together, making sure every brick we lay serves a generational purpose.

## What I’m building

It’s a busy season in the **[Avodah Dynamics](https://avodahdynamics.com)** ecosystem. I’m currently exploring focus as a spiritual discipline. I just shared a piece on [Christian Music for Focus](https://content.avodahdynamics.com/2026/07/20/christian-music-for-focus-the-ultimate-worship-playlist-to-sharpen-your-mind-and-build-the-kingdom/) because I truly believe the atmosphere you create dictates the pace of your heart.

I’m also leaning into the Hebrew concept of *Tikvah*—redefining hope in a way that feels tangible. I’ve woven this into the **[Hope Challenge](https://hope.avodahdynamics.com)**. For those of you feeling the weight of the build right now, please know these aren't just articles to me; they are pieces of a **personal operating system** I’m building right alongside you. I’m even refining my own **AI second brain** to help manage everything without losing the heart and grit that defines the **[Shevet Challenges](https://challenges.avodahdynamics.com)**.

## A thought on work and money

Execution is how we show respect to the marketplace, but it has to come from the right place. To find **consistent execution**, we have to move past the exhausting "grind" and adopt a **builder mentality**. I like to think of my office as an altar.

I see so many gifted leaders getting stuck because they haven't quite mastered **how to finish what you start**. They have the vision, but they lack the **business systems** to keep them upright. One of the biggest **leadership lessons** I’ve learned is that authority is really about submission. If you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed by the noise of your career, I put together a [7-Day Christian Challenge for Anxiety](https://content.avodahdynamics.com/2026/07/19/the-7-day-christian-challenge-for-anxiety-break-free-from-fear-and-build-kingdom-peace/) to help us both recalibrate.

**Try this today:** Pick one task you’ve been putting off—maybe something that feels too "secular"—and do it as an act of worship. Document it as you go. You're **building a legacy** of intentionality, one task at a time. If you want to walk through this with a community, come join me in the **[Start the Tribal Challenge ($1 trial)](https://tribalchallenge.avodahdynamics.com)**.

## Something I’m listening to

You can hear what’s playing in my studio at **[Avodah Sound](https://sound.avodahdynamics.com)**. Right now, I’m into ambient trap textures. It provides a rhythmic foundation that helps me with heavy cognitive lifting. It’s more than background noise; it’s an atmosphere for focus and, honestly, a bit of spiritual warfare. It’s part of that unseen choreography of faith.

## For you

In the world today, [Forbes](https://www.forbes.com) notes that leadership is moving toward those who can manage complexity with a servant’s heart. I’m calling this the **Moses Protocol** in my **founder notes**. We can use things like **AI productivity** and **workflow optimization** not just to get ahead, but to be better stewards. By using a **second brain**, we free up our spirits to hear the quiet, prophetic nudges we might otherwise miss. Your **creative discipline** is the bridge to your vision. Don't just work for a check; build something that lasts. You can read more about stewarding your talents over at [Bible Gateway](https://www.biblegateway.com).

## Before I go

Let’s remind ourselves: I am not just an employee; I am a Kingdom architect. I carry the blueprint of heaven into the marketplace. My labor is my worship, and my discipline is my devotion. I am building a legacy that will stand long after the noise of the world fades.

I won't just coast today. I was built for this.

Warmly,
Karl
